Hello! We are the grade 5/6 class at John Dearness Public School in London, Ontario. Over the past few years in music we have enjoyed units of vocal music, orff/percussion, recorders, and ukulele. This is our first large ensemble experience and we really liked choosing where we were most comfortable & working on putting the song together! Three classes of grade 4’s from Northdale Central in Dorchester, Ontario teamed up to write and perform their own lyrics to “If I Had A Million Dollars”. Among some of the suggestions were llamas, unicorns, grand pianos, french fries, treehouses and a whole bunch of other fantastic million dollar ideas. Hope you enjoy their version of the original! Toniata Public School students are excited to present Must Be Santa by Raffi. Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6 are proud to be singing and trying their best to be actively engaged with this amazing event. We are the Grade 5 Intensive French classes from Liverpool Street School in Fredericton, NB. Our classes have a total of 32 students between the two classes. We are a very diverse and unique group. 27 students in our class do not have English as their first language. These families have moved to Fredericton for different reasons from various countries (India, China, Vietnam, Syria, Japan etc..) and in our time at Liverpool School we have learned to speak English. Saint Francis High School music program is a Public, Catholic, educational environment where staff and students, inspired by our patron, St. Francis of Assisi, strive to develop the musical, spiritual, academic, social, creative and physical potential of each student in cooperation with the parents and the community. We offer a comprehensive music education to all students which include a performing arts education in all aspects of music. We offer 5 main ensembles ranging from vocal jazz to concert choir to show choir to concert band and jazz band. Our Concert Choir is made up of students ranging from grade 10-12 and is comprised of students who are dedicated to their vocal studies. We would like to dedicate this performance to members of the St. Francis Music Society past and present, made up of music parents who tirelessly fundraise to support our program! Music brings people together. Paisley Road was excited to see Buffy Ste. Marie’s song about the importance of the environment on the CBC list of songs for the contest. This song built on the connection that Paisley and St Joseph’s have developed over the past 3 years and was a chance to foster a new relationship with Lloyd S. King (LSK). Over the course of two months, the three schools prepared their choirs and instrumentalists so the groups would be ready to perform together. We used video conferencing and communicated weekly about our plans for the big day! We met together at Paisley Road in late October. With the help and guidance of Dan and Mary-Lou Smoke, the group learned about the importance of environmental stewardship and the intention of Buffy Ste Marie’s Cradleboard project. Community members and Elders who came to visit were moved by the power of the group’s music. After the last take, when the multiple music teachers laughed and cheered, the students witnessed first hand what they were able to achieve by working together! I believe that our song is a tangible sign of reconciliation and understanding of one another's cultures and world views. Caring for the environment was our common link, and coming together in song is something they will never forget!
